Limoges enamels

From the middle ages, Limoges was the most important centre in Western Europe for the production of enamelled copper. Early work was exclusively for ecclesiastical use, but secular designs were produced in the 16th and 17th centuries.

Limoges enamels were extensively faked, aminly in France, in the 19th century.
