kantharos

A drinking-cup of ancient Greek pottery, having a tall footed stem and two loop side-handles, each extending from the from the bottom of the bowl to the rim.

The kantharos was associated with Bacchus, the god of wine.

Some were made in the form of a head, or with a head front and back. This type is sometimes referred to as a head vase.
