Sakaida Kakiemon (1596-1666)

One of the most famous Japanese porcelain makers and painters, credited with the introduction into Japan of the process of painting in overglaze enamel colours. The porcelain produced and painted by Kakiemon and his descendants is known as Kakiemon porcelain.
