Louis Daguerre (1789-1851)French artist and chemist who pioneered the daguerreotype process of photography. He was a scene-painter and designer for the opera in Paris, and he invented the Diorama, which opened in Paris in July 1822. From 1829 he conducted experiments in photography, which culminated in 1839 with his announcement of the daugerreotype process. |
