chrysoberyl

A mineral, beryllium aluminate, of various shades of greenish-yellow or gold colour, used as a gemstone.

There are three main varieties of chrysoberyl: ordinary yellow chrysoberyl; cat's eye or cymophane; and alexandrite.

Ordinary chrysoberyl is a yellowish-green, transparent to translucent gemstone.
