Chelsea porcelainThe Chelsea porcelain factory was probably the first porcelain factory in England, and is one of the best-known (and, in many ways, the finest) in Europe. The factory's early history is obscure, but the earliest known products are two small cream-jugs in the form of reclining goats marked with the date 1745. The factory was sold in 1770 to William Duesbury of Derby and finally closed in 1784. |
