Caughley

A pottery was established at Caughley in Shropshire soon after 1750. It began producing porcelain, known as Salopian ware, in 1772. In 1775 transfer-printing in blue underglaze was introduced.

Worcester porcelain was deliberately imitated at Caughley. Gilding was also used on blue-and-white wares.

The Caughley works were closed circa 1812.
