Franz Anton Bustelli (1723-1763)

A Swiss-born rococo

porcelain modeller who was the chief modeller at Nymphenburg from 1754 to 1763.

Bustelli's figures, many of them commedia dell'arte figures, are noted for their theatrical poses and are full of life. They usually have open mouths and are placed on thin, flat bases. Some of the groups especially have rococo scrollwork rising from the base.
