A very wide range of earthenware painted with blue underglaze, the colour used being cobalt oxide.

Tin-glazed earthenware has the decoration painted on the raw glaze before firing, and the decoration can therefore be more correctly described as ‘in’ the glaze rather than ‘under’ it.
