AnsbachAn important German pottery and porcelain factory. A faience factory was established circa 1708-10. Early wares were blue-and-white, followed in the 1730s by large, brilliantly coloured ornamental pieces. Later, having become a State concern, it produced white earthenware until it closed in 1839. A porcelain factory was opened in 1757 as an extension to the faience factory, and this was operational until 1860. |
