AbstbessingenA small factory in Thuringia producing faience in the 18th century. It is said to have been founded in 1739, although no records exist prior to 1753. Products included tankards, vases, tureens, tea-kettles and pyramids of flowers for table decorations. It was under the patronage of the Schwarzburg family, and some items may be found with the Schwarzburg coat-of-arms. The factory mark, a fork, was derived from this coat-of-arms. |
